BURGER BUNS

Today I have come up with burger buns recipe. It’s quite simple…. Infact very very simple. Our kids love burger so much. Howz it if we prepare buns too at home and you can alter the flours too for healthy version??? My son was on cloud 9☺️ after seeing the buns and ready burger at home.


My husband named it as MAHARAJAH BURGER😂… Because I made very very larger buns.

This recipe yields 6-7 burger buns. Although I made 4 as of XL size.

RECIPE:

3 cups + 1/4 cup APF or maida

1.25 tsp salt

3.5 tsp instant yeast

1/4 + 1 cup milk or water

1/4 cup granulated sugar

2.5 tbsp salted butter

1 tbsp oil

2 tsp sesame seeds

1/4 cup milk for brushing on top of the bun prior baking

2 tbsp melted butter for brushing the baked buns post baking

METHOD:


Heat 1/4 cup of water or milk. Add sugar and butter and let them melt completely at lowest flame. Now add 1 cup of water or milk so that it comes to lukewarm temperature.


In a larger bowl add APF and salt. Mix well and make a well in the middle. Add lukewarm water mixture, yeast and mix well with spatula. It will be very sticky. Don’t worry. It is supposed to be like that only.


Now transfer the sticky dough onto clean kitchen platform. Add 1/4 cup of flour by sprinkling and knead the dough until it comes together and make a smooth ball. Don’t add extra flour than mentioned in the recipe.


Grease the same bowl with 1 tbsp oil and place the kneaded dough into it. Grease the dough too. Cover and let it sit undisturbed for 2 hours until it has raised to double of its original size. As it is cold here in Pune, I just preheated the microwave for 3 minutes at 120° C and placed the bowl inside. After 2 hours you can see the dough is finely raised.


Punch the dough and make balls of equal sizes. Take a square mould and grease it too. Smooth the balls and place them on baking dish close to each other and cover with cling film. Preheat the microwave at 120°and switch it off. Place the baking dish for second proofing. It takes hardly an hour.

Take the help of microwave oven or otg for proofing only in winters. 

Now preheat oven at 220° C.

As the buns have proofed, brush them with milk and sprinkle some sesame seeds on top.

Bake them for 20 minutes at 200° C.

You can see the browning on top and if you knock at the base of the bun, it will sound hollow. It means it is done.


As they have been baked, take the tray out of the oven and brush them with butter immediately. Let them cool.
